The Solution for Efficient Sample Collection

Whether it’s a doctor’s office, a medical care center, or a hospital: Whenever samples are dropped off outside of business hours, fixed pickup routes are created—and with them, empty trips. The SLOC Fill State is retrofitted into existing specimen drop-off boxes and reports each deposit via cellular network. The next day’s pickup route includes only those locations where specimens are actually present. This saves kilometers, time, and staff—and frees up capacity for the pickups that are truly urgent. Keep an Eye on Additions and Temperature

For many samples, what matters is how long they’ve been in the box before pickup and under what conditions. In the SLOC Device Management Portal, you can see—for each location—when a sample was placed in the box, how the fill level is changing, and what the temperature inside the box is. Threshold alarms are triggered if the box gets too hot or too cold—as long as the sample is still inside.

Try our solution for yourself

How many of your trips today end up being a waste of time? Without tracking, no one knows. We’ll equip a selection of your sample drop boxes and analyze the data together with you—so you can make decisions based on your own numbers.

The SLOC Fill State is already in use in over 400 containers—in drop-off boxes for lab samples and package drop-off boxes—across Europe and North America.

Problems with Sample Logistics

  • Fixed pickup routes regardless of actual demand
  • About one in three trips finds an empty sample drop box ¹
  • Unnecessary mileage, high costs, and CO₂ emissions
  • No information on how long a sample has been in the box
  • Temperature fluctuations in outdoor drop boxes
  • Staff shortages in delivery services
  • Manual effort required to process pickup requests by phone

SLOC SOLUTION

The Smart Solution for Sample Logistics

SLOC Fill State

The SLOC Fill State measures the fill level in small and medium-sized containers and detects deposits, withdrawals, and lid openings. It also provides temperature, location, and shock detection. It can be installed as new equipment or retrofitted, operates via NB-IoT and LTE-M, and has a battery life of up to 10 years.

SLOC Device Management

The portal displays the fill level, feed rates, and temperature for each location over time, reports alarms, and shows which locations are currently being filled.

Schnittstellen in Drittsysteme

You can integrate the data into your route planning, laboratory information system, or logistics system via REST or PUSH interfaces.

No effort required on the part of the referring practice

No scanning, no app, no login credentials, no training. The SLOC Fill State operates in the background—the practice simply loads the sample as usual. Installation takes just a few minutes, with no wiring, no gateways, and no need to replace the box. The sensor is suitable for containers with an internal depth of 20 to 110 cm.
